Indonesia Bolsters Mpox Precautions Ahead of International Gathering

To safeguard public health and prevent the spread of mpox during the upcoming Indonesia-Africa Forum, the Indonesian government has implemented rigorous screening measures at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. All international passengers arriving at the airport will be subject to temperature checks. Those with a body temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius will be required to undergo swab testing for mpox. If a positive result is detected, the individual will receive appropriate medical care. Despite these enhanced precautions, the government has emphasized that there will be no restrictions imposed on foreign travelers. The aim is to balance public health concerns with the facilitation of international exchange. Indonesia has previously experienced mpox cases, with a total of 88 reported since 2022. All cases were concentrated on the island of Java, and all patients have successfully recovered. The government's proactive measures are a testament to its commitment to protecting public health while fostering international cooperation
